“The quintessential Southern sludge band” – Pitchfork

“This [is] a band built on a narrative about doing the opposite of what it thought people wanted: playing slow and messy music in a fast and virtuosic time, the 1980s speed-metal moment.” – NY Times

“…True musical pioneers in every sense of the word.” – Thrasher Magazine

Rolling Stone:

Take As Needed For The Pain – #92 on the “Greatest Metal Albums of All Time” list

One of “America’s great live bands”

New Orleans’ EYEHATEGOD is the snarling, bilious sound of dead-end America. Since 1988, they’ve been a soundtrack for the troubled masses. Ugly music for ugly times. That’s the sense of disenchantment and disease that lies at the heart of their latest and sixth full-length album, A History of Nomadic Behavior. Anyone familiar with EHG’s story knows this is survivor’s music, a sound unto itself where Sabbathian riffs are meted out with caustic anger that goes beyond punk. That’s been the blueprint since guitarist Jimmy Bower (also of NOLA supergroup, Down) founded the band in 1988, with vocalist Michael IX Williams joining not long after. With a discography including sludge-punk mainstays like In the Name of Suffering (1990), Take as Needed for Pain (1993), Dopesick (1996), or 2014’s eponymously-titled LP, released in the US through Housecore Records, EHG laid the cracked foundation for their infamous and influential sound. A History of Nomadic Behavior finds the band, now slimmed to a four-piece rounded out by bassist Gary Mader and drummer Aaron Hill, leaner and meaner than ever; road-hardened by recent tours with Black Label Society, Corrosion of Conformity, and Napalm Death in the US and abroad. From the bitter pill of opener “Built Beneath the Lies” to the hypnotic haze of closer “Every Thing, Every Day,” it’s clear that EYEHATEGOD hasn’t slowed or mellowed with time. It’s quite the opposite. This is disorienting, uneasy listening. Music that still very much hurts.

Founded in 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia, Whores has established themselves as one of the most successful and motivated bands in the genre today. Elements of Helmet, Melvins, and the Amphetamine Reptile roster can be heard throughout their catalog, but Whores are no regurgitated throwback act. Through intense, cathartic live performances and the perfected aggressive tenacity present on their recordings, the band has gained a fervent following sure to do nothing but grow in the years to come. October 28, 2016 saw the band’s first full-length album, “GOLD.” The album was widely praised, garnering spots in the top ten on album of the year lists through publications such as Rolling Stone, MetalSucks, Heavy Planet, Invisible Oranges, and more. The band is currently recording the follow-up to “GOLD.” Prior to the release of “GOLD.,” Whores’ output included two now-classic EPs. “RUINER.” released December 20, 2011, put the band on the noise rock map and is now on its fourth pressing. They followed this up with the even-more popular “CLEAN.” released October 29, 2013 and now on its sixth pressing. In their short career, Whores have received much critical praise.

Formed in 2017, NO/MÁS have built a reputation for tightly controlled sonic chaos, merging grindcore’s primal urgency with the low-end heft of death metal and the confrontational spirit of hardcore. Their previous releases — Raíz Del Mal and Consume / Deny / Repent — established the band as a standout voice in the next wave of American extreme metal.

Now the D.C. insurgents are back with a brand new album, NO PEACE! While the album expands the band’s sonic reach, it remains firmly rooted in the abrasive intensity that defines NO/MÁS. The album confronts instability head-on, exploring the internal and external pressures that drive individuals and societies toward chaos. Recorded and produced with a focus on sonic superiority and clarity without sacrificing grit, the new material offers a more dynamic and punishing interpretation of the band’s signature sound. The first single, “Manic”, marks the beginning of a new, defining era for NO/MÁS — one built on growth, urgency, and unfiltered aggression.

In recent years, NO/MÁS have become perpetual road dogs, supporting Brujeria, Exhumed, Wormrot, Pig Destroyer, Cavalera, Deceased, Ghoul, Cro-Mags, and more — carving up audiences with explosive brevity, sharp dynamic shifts, and a cathartic outpouring of anxiety, frustration, and unrest.

The misanthropic sludge metal outfit Eyehategod was formed in New Orleans in 1988, and became an important part of a Southern sludgecore scene that included bands like Crowbar and Down, all of whom were heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, Black Flag, and the Melvins. Williams, lead guitarist Brian Patton, and bassist Steve Dale, and debuted in 1992 with the album In the Name of Suffering.

The Cro-Mags are an American hardcore punk turned crossover thrash band from New York City. The band, which had a strong cult following, has released five studio albums, their first two considered the most influential. According to AllMusic, “before the Cro-Mags, the idea of combining heavy metal and hardcore together was unheard of. But with the release of their classic debut, The Age of Quarrel, hardcore-metal was born, and in its wake came a legion of similarly styled offspring (Biohazard, Vision of Disorder, etc.).”

Whitechapel: “Decade of Defilement Tour” + Carnifex + Rings of Saturn + Entheos + So This Is Suffering + Bloodbather – Miami – 11/12/17

Heroes Live Entertainment presents Whitechapel: “Decade of Defilement Tour” Celebrating 10 Years of “The Somatic Defilement” with special guests Carnifex, Rings Of Saturn, Entheos, So This Is Suffering & Bloodbather @ The Ground at Club Space in Miami.

Tickets: https://ticketfly.com/event/1507518

With five genre-redefining albums to their name, the Knoxville, Tennessee natives have carved themselves a unique niche in contemporary metal, and in doing so have spoken to legions of fans. Making their presence known with 2007’s The Somatic Defilement, their profile has steadily grown, and 2014’s Our Endless War saw them crack the top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 for the first time. Their reputation for maintaining their integrity is well-earned, and going into their sixth full-length this commitment is stronger than ever. “I honestly don’t think that we ever have to prove anything to anyone, we do this because we enjoy it, and if people want to listen and support us, that’s just a bonus,” says Bozeman. “With this record we knew what we didn’t want to do. We wanted to get away from the faster stuff, because we’re burned out on that 260bpm blastbeat thing. We’ve done that. Ultimately none of us agree with genre pigeon-holing, and we’re not afraid to write what we want to write, no matter what anyone else thinks.” While the band had clear ideas for elements they wanted to explore, they did not allow this to dictate the record, which developed more naturally, focusing on what was best for the individual songs, refusing to accept anything less than the absolute best they could possibly do. “Nothing was set in concrete when we started writing, and we did not force anything,” Wade states. “For example, the idea of including some clean singing was brought up before any songs were written, but it was never really like ‘okay, we’re doing this’ until the songs that we planned to have that on were complete and Phil could say ‘so I’m clean singing on these, right?’. At that moment it felt exciting that we were exploring musical territory that we hadn’t before, and that we were confident in doing so.” In realizing the album, the band – rounded out by guitarists Ben Savage and Zach Householder, bassist Gabe Crisp and drummer Ben Harclerode – reunited with producer Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse). “When it comes to recording we have the ‘if it’s not broke, don’t fix it’ mentality, and he really does find ways to make us sound better with each record. From ‘Whitechapel‘ (2012) to ‘Our Endless War‘, there really was a large step forward in terms of the production and tones, and I feel that is also the case with the progression from ‘Our Endless War‘ to ‘Mark of the Blade‘. This is the biggest we have ever sounded on a record, and it’s great to see his growth as a producer matched with our growth as musicians.
