Hailing from Texas, Twin Tribes is an emerging force in the darkwave scene, turning heads in 2018 with the release of their debut album “Shadows” that featured dark melodic sounds, synthesizers, lyrics about the undead, and the occult and parallel universes. They returned in 2020 with the ten-track album “Ceremony” with an evolved sound that explored love and loss while showcasing their progression as a band.

With songs that are both dynamic and introspective, they balance the darker shades of the emotional spectrum with an energy and momentum that gifts their music a powerful sense of urgency and drama. Their lyrics dig deep into the personal turmoil of love, life and loss, and have forged a new aesthetic that fuses the gothic with the romantic, viewing emotional themes through a darker lens.

As their second LP gains increasing critical and commercial attention, these pillars of the independent music scene continue to re-define what genres such as darkwave and post-punk mean in 2023.

Born and raised in Miami Florida, DJ Dino has been a staple in the South Florida music scene, and a proponent of Synth-pop and Dark Electro sounds since the mid-80s and into the more recent revival scene.

Dino is behind the long-time running show SYNTHOLOGY 101 Radio, and since the show’s inception three decades ago, Dino has gained additional recognition leading to appearances at highly recognized events within the states and abroad including Wave Gotik Treffen/Dark Affair 2023 (Leipzig Germany), SYNTHCON Synthpop Festival (Los Angeles, CA), Trans Communion v1.0 Music Festival (Houston, TX), Nekropolis (Club Lazer San Juan, Puerto Rico), and more recently Absolution Fest 2023 in Tampa Florida, to name a few.

Dino has now taken up residency at Miami’s dark underground party “Malicia Goth Nights”, making it one of the hottest monthly parties in the South Florida Goth Scene. He serves his latest discoveries and the most cutting edge in goth, minimal synth, dark wave, dark electronic, synth-punk, and resurrected obscure coffin classics for baby bats and darks alike.

THE OCEAN BLUE On Tour with Select Dates in 2024 Performing First Two Sire Albums – The Ocean Blue + Cerulean

In 2024, the band will be playing a select number of shows, performing their first two albums in full – The Ocean Blue and Cerulean – in dates throughout the U.S. as they continue work on a new album. 

Getting their start as teenagers in the late ‘80s in Hershey, PA, The Ocean Blue released their self-titled debut on the famed Sire Records that launched many of their heroes in the U.S., like the Smiths and Echo & the Bunnymen. Embraced by MTV, the band quickly made their mark on the onset of the Alternative Music scene. Their early singles “Between Something And Nothing” and “Drifting, Falling” notched them Top Ten hits on College and Modern Rock radio, setting in motion a run of four successful major label albums, followed by a string beloved independent releases from 2000 to the present. With eight albums and several EPs under their belt (Sire/Rhino reissued their first three albums in 2015), the band continues to do what it has always done with more plans for touring and releases on the horizon.

Ross Ryan created Dead on a Sunday because he had always wanted to sing in a rock band. But he didn’t realize that his voice sounds a lot like that of Bob Belcher, the lead character on the popular cartoon show Bob’s Burgers. The people who caught a Dead on a Sunday TikTok noticed, though, and Ryan’s music went viral, with even the supervising director of Bob’s Burgers eventually weighing in.

“I started messing around with the TikTok thing, like, summer 2021. And you know, TikTok either goes fast or it goes slow. So it was going really slow, and I kind of backed off it a bit, mostly out of frustration,” Ryan recalls. “And then this last summer, I decided to kind of go hard at it again, because you know, it’s the number-one entertainment app, and it’s the only place that’s really breaking artists.”

He began making videos in which he re-created a popular song in the dark-wave genre, which is also the styling of his band. In one, he combined Mr. Kitty’s viral tune “After Dark” with the lyrics from Blink-182’s “Dammit,” and then uploaded the band’s performance to TikTok in October. It “was growing slowly on Spotify, maybe 100 plays a day,” he says. “Then this guy on TikTok comments on the video and says, ‘It sounds like Bob Belcher.’ I was like, ‘Is that supposed to be a good thing?’ I wasn’t mad; it was funny. I didn’t have a video to post that day, so I just took a lot of clips of us playing our last show and I tagged that comment and wrote ‘Bob-core’ over the video. And within just, like, seven seconds…it had hundreds of views. I went about my day, and when I went on TikTok later, it was at 3,000 views, and every time I refreshed, people were commenting. … I’ve never had anything that translated into fans and streams of the music just overnight.”

The video now has more than 745,000 views, and a follow-up video of Ryan dressed as Bob Belcher lip-syncing the viral audio has racked up more than 100,000. As a result, Dead on a Sunday’s debut album, Strange Days, which was also released in October, has been gaining more listens and saves day after day.

Meanwhile, the song that went viral, which Ryan titled “Dammit (After Dark),” has more than 135,000 plays on Spotify. “Every listener comes back on average about five times a day and listens,” Ryan says. “It’s boosted and grown the fan base. All my accounts on all platforms have grown.” – Westword

Los Angeles based Strangelove-The DEPECHE MODE Experience delivers a career-spanning, pitch-perfect “best of” concert that transports the listener through time and touches on several key points in Depeche Mode’s 40+ year career. Following a string of encounters too strange to be coincidence, Robbie Kingsley, Franco Solari, Dylan McCue, Andre Escobar, and Zach Levy came together to form The Hails. Despite first playing in an insular Miami high school music scene, the band officially formed at the University of Florida in Gainesville, turning the tattered carpeting and beer bottle-lined shelves of their shitty college house into a distinct, refined sound that is now synonymous with their name.

After graduation, the group made the pilgrimage back to their home of Miami, the city that directly influenced the sound of their early shimmering singles “Younger” and “Stay”, debut EP He Seems Upset (2020), and the subsequent Alive in Strange Ways (2021). Recent highlights of the road include holding court at festivals including WonderStruck, Okeechobee, and Playground, interspersed between sold-out shows across the state of Florida. The first half of 2022 also saw The Hails join WILLIS for West and East Coast dates.

Firing the starting pistol of their next chapter, The Hails released “Exonerate” in October 2022, ushering in a flood of editorial praise from Billboard, Consequence, EARMILK, and many others excited by the direction the Miami five-piece is headed in. The same weekend as the single’s release, The Hails took it to the stage of Miami’s infamous III Points Festival, winning the crowd’s energy over with a track that had only been out for 24 hours.

In 2023 The Hails plan to release singles building towards a forthcoming debut album, and will continue to build their touring history starting with a southeastern run of shows with The Happy Fits and The Beaches.

Head Automatica

Head Automatica is the somewhat unlikely pairing of vocalist Daryl Palumbo (of New York City’s hardcore outfit Glassjaw) and producer Dan the Automator (aka Dan Nakamura of Gorillaz, Handsome Boy Modeling School). Introduced by mutual friends, the duo began work on their debut, aiming for a sound somewhere in between the Automator‘s beats and squiggles and Palumbo’s penchant for rock and punk. When Decadence appeared in late summer 2004, its groove was just that — a bright and trashy mix of electronics and rock & roll, the kind of thing for which late nights were made. Palumbo and Automator put together a road band and toured in support of the record, sharing shows with such disparate acts as Lostprophets, Thrice, Interpol, and the Rapture along the way. However, Palumbo’s ongoing battle with Crohn’s disease, which the singer suffered from since childhood, continued to give him problems while on the road; various tour dates had to be canceled as he spent time in hospitals to receive treatment.

The frontman continued to relapse as work on Head Automatica’s sophomore effort began; his sickness persisted during the bulk of the recording process. The band — now comprised of Palumbo, drummer Larry Gorman (ex-Glassjaw), bassist Jarvis Morgan Holden (ex-Give Up the Ghost), guitarist Craig Bonich, and keyboardist Jessie Nelson — enlisted the talents of producer Howard Benson to help create an album with a “bright, crisp sound.” The resulting Popaganda was issued in June 2006. It proved to be an aptly named album that, without Dan the Automator around, largely lacked the electronics of Decadence, instead boasting a relatively more straightforward guitar sound largely influenced by late-’70s pop. A subsequent summer tour was spent opening for Taking Back Sunday alongside Angels and Airwaves and the Subways.

The Ocean Blue arrived as the 1980s drew to a close, and their debut record on the famed Sire Records label in 1989 seemed to summarize the best of the musical decade. The band of four teenagers from Hershey, Pennsylvania quickly achieved widespread acclaim and radio & MTV airplay, with top 10 Modern Rock/College Radio hits like Between Something and Nothing and Drifting, Falling. They followed their debut release with the subtle and atmospheric Cerulean, which included perhaps their most beloved song, Ballerina Out of Control, and followed that with their highest charting pop album Beneath the Rhythm and Sound and the single Sublime, featuring a video of the band in the sublime landscape of Iceland. The band’s fourth record for Mercury/PolyGram, See The Ocean Blue, was a departure to a more guitar rock sound of the 60s and 70s, but with the band’s 80s DNA peeking through. After a busy decade of recording and touring, the band left the majors in the late 90s. Several independent releases and related touring followed in the 2000s, including 2000’s Davy Jones Locker and 2004’s Waterworks EP, and some wider international touring. In 2013, after much anticipation, the band released their first full-length record in over 10 years, Ultramarine, on Korda Records, a Minneapolis-based label cooperative label the band helped launch that same year. The record was a welcome return for fans of the band and a younger generation of fans and garnered widespread praise as one of their very best albums. In 2015, the band worked with Sire and Rhino Records to reissue their first 3 Sire albums on vinyl. The band marked the occasion by performing the first 2 albums in their entirety at limited concerts throughout the U.S. In 2016, the band did a whole South American Tour where some of their most passionate fans reside.

The band has returned with their signature dream pop sound on the beautifully powerful Kings and Queens / Knaves and Thieves on Korda Records.

The band is comprised of Jose “Jovi” Adames (guitar/vocals), Richard Boullon (percussion), Mario Lemus (bass), and Oscar Sardiñas (guitar/vocals). They released their debut LP “Say So” in May 2019 and the “Culebra” EP in February 2020.

Los Angeles based Strangelove-The DEPECHE MODE Experience delivers a career-spanning, pitch-perfect “best of” concert that transports the listener through time and touches on several key points in Depeche Mode’s 40+ year career. Songs from throughout the Depeche canon are lovingly recreated; from favorites on DM’s debut Speak and Spell to the newest fare from ‘Mode’s latest- 2017’s “Spirit”. No detail of STRANGELOVE’s presentation has been overlooked. The visual presentation with stage set pieces and in-show costume changes reflect different eras of Depeche Mode’s story.
