Los Angeles dark-wave/electronic act THE BLACK QUEEN has announced a spring tour to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their cult-classic debut album “Fever Daydream”. Featuring singer Greg Puciato (solo artist, Better Lovers, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan) and multi-instrumentalist and acclaimed technician Steve Ryan (Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle), the band will perform the record in full during a series of intimate shows in May and June, the first THE BLACK QUEEN has played since 2019.

A kind of power synth pop trio, the Black Queen began in casual fashion and developed into a full-blown band treated by its members as much more than an extracurricular project. In 2011, Greg Puciato, Dillinger Escape Plan’s vocalist, and Steven Alexander, a seasoned tech (DEP, Nine Inch Nails, Ke$ha ), began working on material with one another that deviated significantly from the former’s main band. Later in the year, Joshua Eustis (NIN, Puscifer) was added to the fold, after Puciato crossed paths with the multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter at a Puscifer gig. Puciato’s interests had long involved electronic music — his primary band had covered songs by Massive Attack, Depeche Mode, and even Aphex Twin — and he admired Eustis’ output with Telefon Tel Aviv. The two also shared a love for R&B, a genre detectable throughout Eustis’ recorded history. Within a couple years, Puciato, Alexander, and Eustis were deeply involved in the Black Queen, living with one another in Los Angeles, and supporting each other through bleak personal matters. In 2015, they debuted the Black Queen with the ballad “The End Where We Start” and quickly followed it with the relatively uptempo “Ice to Never,” a pair of singles that were closer in construction to Telefon Tel Aviv’s Immolate Yourself than anything by Dillinger Escape Plan. Additionally, these songs featured some of Puciato’s most melodic and restrained vocal performances without sacrificing any feeling. Fever Daydream, their debut album, was released in January 2016. They went on to promote the record with an international tour later that year before Puciato returned to Dillinger to record their final album, Dissociation, which saw release in October 2016. DEP spent almost the entirety of 2017 touring in support of the record before taking a break and Puciato returned the Black Queen fold in 2018 to record their sophomore effort — Infinite Games — which saw release in September 2018. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi

Not much is known about Lil Xan other than the fact that his records such as “Betrayed” and “Slingshot” have millions of views and plays on YouTube and Soundcloud. The 21-year-old West Coast native is a new face in hip-hop whose alternative approach to rap is garnering a legion of music lovers to adorn him. The crazy thing is, he’s only been rapping for a couple of years and initially wanted to be a photographer.

When Xan was growing up, he was mostly into alternative rock and was the photographer in his group of rapper friends. When his camera was stolen after a friend’s show, instead of paying for another $1200 camera, he used the money he had for studio time. Over the course of two years, rapping went from being a hobby to his profession.

“I was rapping as a hobby for a year and six months, but it got very serious six months ago,” he said to XXL over the phone. “Then even more four months ago and even more two months ago, now it’s even at a level where the movement which I created, Xanarchy, has taken off. The music is doing very well and I’m just blessed to be in this position right now.”

He started out in a group called Low Gang but after that fizzled out, Xanarchy was born. “Me and my friend was going by this group called Low Gang and it wasn’t really taking off,” Lil Xan explained. “So, from ashes of Low Gang I created Xanarchy and I just thought the name was a good play on words. It’s been taking off, it’s already showing signs. It’s ridiculous how much the growth has been everywhere.”

LIl Xan got his name when he was still a photographer and was addicted to Xanax. A friend gave him the name while they was in Texas because the young upstart was always “off the Xan.” He has since kicked his Xanax addiction—something he raps about on his hit single “Betrayed”—and has seen his star power rise.

Around the tender age of 14, at a house party in the neighborhood, little Yves Felix got his very first chance to rock the crowd. DJ Epps was born! Digable Planets burst onto the music scene in 1993 with their Grammy-winning single, “Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat).” Made up of Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler, Craig “Doodlebug” Irving, and Mary Ann “Ladybug Mecca” Vieira, the pioneering trio carved out a uniquely appealing style of jazz-informed hip hop. Immortal Technique is a Peruvian born, Harlem raised activist and rapper best known for his complex lyricism, unfeigned humanitarianism, and highly intellectual nature. While incarcerated in his youth, he picked up the pen to unknowingly pioneer a new generation of artists and listeners alike; during his parole in the late nineties, he took battle rap by storm and dominated the world of Underground Hip Hop by being one of the first rappers in a freshly post-9/11 world to amplify the dark history of the United States in an era where most of Hip Hop’s own were waving around the countries flag in support of the war. Instead, he turned it upside down and used his message to take Hip Hop back to its politically charged roots, and as always, highly criticized those in power in his first album, Revolutionary Vol. 1, which went on to become one of the most pirated independent projects to date.

Best known for backing his raps with action, his humanitarianism reaches far and wide – from mentoring youth in prison, to building an orphanage in Afghanistan funded by his third album, The 3rd World, to helping to rebuild Haiti after 2010’s devastating earthquake, and handing out water and supplies at the border in Mexico, his life’s work is truly with the people. During the height of the pandemic in 2020, he started his own charity, The Rebel Army Runs to take care of the elders in his community and many others around the US. He’s worked directly with members of the original Black Panther Party, Political Prisoner and Activist Mumia Abu-Jamal, Dr. Cornel West, Harry Belafonte with the Sankofa Organization, Native American Activist Russell Means, has spoken at prestigious universities such as Harvard, Columbia, NYU and more, and has made appearances on CNN, Fox, RT, The Joe Rogan Experience, The Desus & Mero Show, MTV, Vice and BET to name a few.

Cavity is primarily a sludge and doom metal band, originating from Miami, Florida, known for their heavy, abrasive sound influenced by hardcore punk, with some later work incorporating industrial elements. They are considered pioneers of the sludgecore genre, featuring downtuned riffs, powerful drumming, and a visceral, sometimes catchy, style. 

Cavity have announced their return. Originally formed in 1992, the band would have a 10 year run before taking a 13 year hiatus again reforming as Cavity A.D. in 2015. That version of the group would be in existence until 2020 before the band would once again go on hiatus.

The current line up is made up of the returning vocalist Rene Barge, bassist Dan Gorostiaga, and guitarist Ed Matus joined by guitarist Andrew McLees and drummer Davin Sosa.

Devalued is a Miami-based False Jazz trio that creates music that feels like the soundtrack to urban decay. Their unique sound combines elements of sludge, punk, grind and experimental noise, creating a frenzied and cacophonous blend that reflects the disintegrating beauty of the city. The band’s live shows are intense and chaotic, with the three members of Devalued thrashing around on stage, lost in the music they are creating. Devalued is a band that demands to be experienced live, as their energy and intensity cannot be captured on record alone.

“Named in reference to David Icke’s theory that the worlds’ elites are lizard people from another dimension, Prison Warder is Ana Farina Mackliff on bass, Lauren Palma on guitar, Bryan Adams on drums and Christopher Aschbrenner on vocals. With such a nod, it may be obvious, Prison Warder feels dangerous because it is as sardonic as it is smart. Prison Warder’s masterful drums are perhaps what hold it all together, guitar and bass that seem bellicose lend Prison Warder much of their unique sound. Screeching and dissonant, the music makes me think of getting headbutt right in the mouth, and liking it. Were Prison Warder a person, you might cross the street to avoid such a fate. Layered with vocals from pacing madman Aschbrenner, which are spoken or shouted or screamed, a transgressive but lovable sound is born. If I had to pick a band to be reminded of, I might say Shellac, but only at their most vicious. I might say Pissed Jeans.” -Abbie Bateman

Getting their start as teenagers in the late ‘80s in Hershey, PA, The Ocean Blue released their self-titled debut on the famed Sire Records label that launched many of their most beloved bands in the U.S., including the Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, and the Pretenders. Embraced by alternative radio and MTV, the band quickly made their mark with early singles “Between Something And Nothing,” “Drifting, Falling” and “Ballerina Out of Control,” each Top Ten hits on U.S. college and Billboard’s Modern Rock Radio charts. Early success set in motion a run of four major label albums— The Ocean Blue (1989 Sire), Cerulean (1991 Sire), Beneath the Rhythm and Sound (1993 Sire), and See The Ocean Blue (1996 Mercury). The band continued with string of independent releases in the 2000s, including Davy Jones Locker (2000 March), Waterworks (2003 W.A.R.), Ultramarine (2013 Korda) and Kings and Queens/Knaves and Thieves (2019 Korda). With eight albums and several EPs under their belt, the band continues to perform and record around the world, with work underway on a new album, and shows in cities throughout the U.S. in 2025 and 2026.

BURNING WITCHES, founded in 2015, are not just one of the hottest exports from Switzerland. Well no, the Swiss girls are one of the most interesting newcomers in Old School Heavy Metal in the past years… worldwide! The band already bewitched the scene press with their first single ‘Burning Witches’ (2016) and achieved the title “Demo of the month” in German Metal Hammer and Rock Hard. For sure, the powerful Heavy Metal, which also includes influences from Power and Speed as well as traditional Metal, thrills with a great songwriting from band founder Romana and vocalist Seraina and catches listeners with the punchy vocals from the singer, who is often compared with legendary Rob Halford (JUDAS PRIEST).

It’s not surprising that so much talent led to a spectacular self-titled debut album that was released in 2017, and the Swiss band didn’t only receive the attention of the traditional Heavy Metal audience but also from one of the scene heavy weights, Nuclear Blast Records, who quickly signed the band.

Back with their sixth studio album, Burning Witches released “Inquisition” in 2025 on Napalm Records.

HELLWITCH arose from the depths of HELL in October 1984. Formed by guitarist Patrick Ranieri and drummer/vocalist, Harry Tiyler. The project expanded into a full band set up in February of 1985 with the introduction of current PRECIPICE drummer Dave Silverthrash (Silverstein), replacing Tiyler, and Andy Adcock on bass/guitar. HELLWITCH shared the stage with such heavies as CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, G.B.H., CORONER, DARK ANGEL, KREATOR, DEICIDE, DEATH, MORBID ANGEL, ATHEIST, AGNOSTIC FRONT, D.R.I., ANTHRAX, NUCLEAR ASSAULT and many others.

October of 1989 brought about a contract with Wild Rags Rec. for the debut album ‘Syzygial Miscreancy’, recorded at the renown Morrisound Studios with veteran Thrash producer Scott Burns. In August of 1991 HELLWITCH entered Morrisound Studios once again to cut the three track EP ‘Terraasymmetry’ for Lethal Records.

2009 saw the release of their long awaited sophomore album ‘Omnipotent Convocation’. With the existing line up from 2005’s ‘Epitome of Disgrace’ promo. The second full length CD, ‘Omnipotent Convocation’ , came out in August 2009 on Xtreem Music. This album marked the second coming of HELLWITCH.

The release of the 30th Anniversary, 10-LP (!) box set on Germany’s IRON BONEHEAD Records, was another milestone for the band and has been selling briskly! Currently, the NEW HELLWITCH album, ANNIHILATIONAL INTERCENTION on Listenable Records, released on June 20, 2023 has been well received by fans and critics alike garnering no less than an 8/10 based on 40+ reviews! This new  aural expedition features 9 songs that create an incomprehensible meteoric maelstrom. In November of 2023 Jason Flippo joined the band as bass player bringing a blasphemous blast of murderous mayhem to our ranks. In our 41st year (2025) it is our time to kill the guilty, punish the innocent, and keep the blood pouring over the masses.

FAETHOM is a Blackened Heavy Metal band from South Florida known for delivering horror/sci-fi concept albums, blending elements of Black, Death, Thrash, Heavy Metal, and 70’s prog-rock since 2008. Their sound began developing in 1998 with Mariela Muerte and David Diacrono hailing from Cochabamba, Bolivia, while proudly adding elements of their culture into the music. The band released their third full-length concept album, Chaosmorphogoria, in October of 2023. They are working on their fourth album to be released in 2026.
