The misanthropic sludge metal outfit Eyehategod was formed in New Orleans in 1988, and became an important part of a Southern sludgecore scene that included bands like Crowbar and Down, all of whom were heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, Black Flag, and the Melvins. Eyehategod was the brainchild of guitarist Jimmy Bower and drummer Joe LaCaze; the two recruited vocalist Michael D. Williams, lead guitarist Brian Patton, and bassist Steve Dale, and debuted in 1992 with the album In the Name of Suffering.

The Cro-Mags are an American hardcore punk turned crossover thrash band from New York City. The band, which had a strong cult following, has released five studio albums, their first two considered the most influential. According to AllMusic, “before the Cro-Mags, the idea of combining heavy metal and hardcore together was unheard of. But with the release of their classic debut, The Age of Quarrel, hardcore-metal was born, and in its wake came a legion of similarly styled offspring (Biohazard, Vision of Disorder, etc.).”

Producer, mixer and Grammy-winning reggae dub artist, Lee “Scratch” Perry has been overturning tradition and confounding conventional wisdom for more than five decades. In the process, the widely acknowledged father of dub reggae became arguably the first creatively driven “artist-producer” in modern recorded music. In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Perry on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

Born in Jamaica in 1936, Lee Perry began in the music business in the 1950’s and by the 1960’s became known for his innovative production techniques as well as his eccentric character. His first single “People Funny Boy” in 1968 was notable for its innovative use of sampling as well as a fast, chugging beat that would soon become identifiable as “reggae”. Concurrent with his own releases with the Upsetters, Perry produced numerous reggae artists at his Black Ark studio, including Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Heptones, and Max Romeo.

After his famed Black Ark Studio was consumed by fire, Perry took refuge in England and the U.S., performing live and making records with collaborators from a wide range of musical genres, all artists who had been inspired by his innovative work: British dub producers Adrian Sherwood and Mad Professor, punk legends The Clash and Public Image, rap innovators the Beastie Boys, and in recent years the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, Funkadelic’s George Clinton, rocker Andrew W.K., electronic artists like The Orb, and of course NYC bass music specialists Subatomic Sound System who back in 2007 collaborated with Dubblestandart on Scratch’s first dubstep remixes.

For over six years in the USA, Subatomic Sound System has been Scratch’s go to band for bringing his Black Ark Studio sound live to the stage, a unique hybrid configuration that brings together a handful of live musicians like veteran Jamaican percussionist Larry McDonald with computers and live dub mixing of classic recordings as well as brand new sounds Scratch hears from outer space. Lee “Scratch” Perry, now into his sixth decade as a pop-music provocateur, has few peers when it comes to fresh ideas and their implementation. He remains one of the world’s most imaginative sonic architects.

Front Line Assembly + Cubanate – West Palm Beach – 11/4/17

Respectable Street in partnership with Heroes Live Entertainment present Front Line Assembly with Cubanate, Vampyre Anvil, Cyanide Regime & Skoros @ Respectable Street in West Palm Beach.

Tickets: http://ticketfly.com/event/1564861

Front Line Assembly is the primary focus of Vancouver-based musician Bill Leeb. A founding member of Skinny Puppy, Leeb moved on to form FLA in 1986 with Michael Balch, releasing some cassettes (since released as Total Terror I & II) which paved the way for their 1987 releases: The Initial Command, State of Mind, and Corrosion. In late 1988, they recorded the mini-LP Disorder, since combined with Corrosion and released as Corroded Disorder. Their 1989 release, Gashed Senses and Crossfire, further cemented their popularity in the industrial scene, and prompted their first world tour. By 1990, Balch had departed and Rhys Fulber rounded out the duo, releasing Caustic Grip. But it was two years later when the duo released what for many has become the genre’s crowning moment, the classic album Tactical Neural Implant, which to this day still defines the best of industrial music.

FLA enraged many of their fans in 1994 when they began to experiment with their established electronic-only sound. Millenium, with its heavy doses of live and sampled metal guitars, dared its audience to grow and expand with the band beyond industrial’s perceived barriers. Front Line stepped to the firing line again in 1995 with Hard Wired, which reflected both a return to form and a continued embracing of the guitar. Hard Wired not only picked up where Implant left off, it improved on the sound by adding in elements of all of their side projects. A fall European tour was recorded for the 1996 release Live Wired, their first concert CD ever. Also in 1996, Front Line Assembly followed up Hard Wired with two CD singles, “Circuitry” and “Plasticity”, and toured North America with Numb and Die Krupps.

1997 saw the first realignment of Front Line Assembly since 1990, with the departure of Rhys Fulber and the addition of Chris Peterson to the ranks. Front Line’s 1998 album, FLAvor of the Weak, featured the band’s first flirtation with electronica. Re-Wind, a twin CD of remixes, followed later that year. The duo then released Implode in 1999, and Epitaph in 2001. Epitaph exhibited building intros, trancy synth lines, pulsing beats, and solid melodies, which proved to be contagious anthems for a new future of industrial music.

After the 2001 release of Epitaph, another changing of the FLA “guard” occurred: Chris Peterson left, and original member, Rhys Fulber (Fear Factory, Conjour One) returned. The newly charged Front Line Assembly delivered the highly anticipated Maniacal single in late 2003. The successful single laid the ground work for the 2004 album Civilization, and Vanished EP which featured three unreleased tracks.

Then finally in 2005 came the event that everyone was waiting for, a Front Line Assembly fusion. Bill Leeb, Rhys Fulber, and Chris Peterson with new members Jeremy Inkel, Adrian White, and Jarod Slingerland began working on the 2006 album, Artificial Soldier. The newly re-formed line-up managed to create an album that no only lived up to the expectations of Front Line Assembly fans, but surpassed them. Heavy pounding beats, atmospheric strings, percolating melodies, dynamic synths and Bill Leeb’s trademark vocals couldn’t be fused together any tighter if you tried to do it at an atomic level. As if all of those factors weren’t enough, two guest vocalists appear on Artificial Soldier – Eskil Simonsson from Covenant (on “The Storm”) and Jean-Luc De Meyer from Front 242 (on “Future Fail”)! After the release of the album, the band embarked on a successful world tour, and released the remix album Fallout one year later.

Throughout the years, FLA has seen many line-up changes. Bill Leeb remains the constant behind the band. For 2010, a new line-up has emerged featuring Jeremy Inkel, Chris Peterson on programming duties, and Jared Slingerland on Guitars, and FLA has been joined by Three Inches of Blood guitarist Justin Hagberg, and guest keyboardist Craig Huxtable of Landscape Body Machine.

The result of this reinvigorated lineup is the all new album Improvised. Electronic. Device. As well as the Shifting Through The Lens single. The new songs demonstrate that FLA has not lost its edge over the past almost two and a half decades. And as if Front Line Assembly’s legacy and namesake alone weren’t enough for the album, Al Jourgensen from Ministry contributes his vocals to the song “Stupidity.”

Bill’s work can also be heard on a wide number of side projects, including Noise Unit, Delerium, InterMix, Cyberaktif, Equinox, and Synaesthesia. Bill has also contributed music to the popular video game, Quake 3 – The Arena.

Insane Clown Posse: The Great Milenko 20th Anniversary Tour + R.A. The Rugged Man – Miami – 10/18/17

Heroes Live Entertainment presents Insane Clown Posse: The Great Milenko 20th Anniversary Tour with R.A. The Rugged Man, Lyte, Ouija & Web Three @ The Hangar in Miami.

Insane Clown Posse

Few artists have as devoted a fan base (“Juggalos” as they call themselves) and are as roundly dismissed by critics as Insane Clown Posse, the Wayne, Michigan, rap-metal duo of Violent J (a.k.a. Joe Bruce) and Shaggy 2 Dope (a.k.a. Joey Utsler). Still, ICP’s longevity and marketing acumen have brought a success even their detractors must acknowledge.

Originally, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope were part of a rap quartet called Inner City Posse, which formed in 1988; when the group broke apart, Insance Clown Posse took its place in the local firmament. Their debut, 1992’s Carnival of Carnage, introduced the group’s new sound, which mixed harder rock elements among the beats and rhymes and its essential pose (clowns in full make-up anticipating the apocalypse, basically). But despite a steady stream of albums that sell well to the group’s surprisingly large core, ICP’s main draw is its live show featuring all manner of sideshow shenanigans, including pyrotechnics and the liberal tossing of Faygo soda onto a willing audience.

With a growing fan-base, 1994’s The Ringmaster sold well, eventually going gold, and led to the band signing with Jive records for 1995’s The Riddle Box. The band jumped to Hollywood Records for 1997’s The Great Milenko (Number 63) which helped propel ICP into the national spotlight; Hollywood’s pulling the album off shelves due to questionable lyrical content gave the album an even further push as the burgeoning nü-metal audience couldn’t wait to hear what all the fuss was about. Island eventually issued the disc. The band began making headlines but not so much for their music but thanks to a road accident (Violent J suffered a concussion), fights with their own audiences and at an Indiana Waffle House, and a panic attack onstage in Minneapolis (J’s).

By 1999, when the group issued The Amazing Jeckel Brothers, it had enough clout to debut at Number Four on the Top 200, and like Kiss before them, they began merchandising like crazy: multiple CD covers, a movie (Big Money Hustlas, which bypassed theaters for video), comic books, even part-time careers as professional wrestlers for both members, as well as appearances in a pair of wrestling video games. The group closed out the initial run of its ‘Dark Carnival’ series of albums with Shangri-La and Hell’s Pit, with the former album proclaiming that they had been leading their fans to God the whole time. ICP’s profile has shrunk in recent years (they’ve gone back to indie labels and tour in less high-profile a fashion), but their fan base remains as loyal as their 2007 release the The Tempest, which debuted at Number 20 on the Top 200, proved.

Web Three

Way more than just a rock/rap fusion outfit, Web Three Music is its own genre. It’s a “work hard, party hard” ethos mixed with social commentary, hard-hitting beats, live instruments, witty lyrics, and an undertone that urges listeners to be themselves. Web Three is “Do You” music, blending genres from hip hop to rock, with a touch of electro and soul. Having shared the stage with such artists as HED (p.e.), Twista, Project Pat, and Rehab, the band has developed a dedicated fan base and a close-knit family like following which fills venues. Web Three’s sound has been compared to Linkin Park, The Beastie Boys, and Rage Against the Machine… It’s up to you to decide for yourself.

Web Three’s name derives from his initials. Born William E. Bachelor III, Web is a charismatic rapper who is a self-described one-man mosh pit of style and a hip-hop fiend. He blends a natural gift for verse with a “f— it” attitude, making him the MC that stands out in a field of regurgitating one-offs. Equally important is his supporting cast. The incessantly joking Dita Von Bloom functions as the band’s hype man and second vocalist. Mike Dickson, the band’s guitarist, brings live instrumentation and adds energy to the already amped-up shows. Demonic theatrics are embodied by Ratt. The soft-spoken DJ Needlez runs the sequencing and turntables during the live show.

The lyrical flow has variety and is effortless. The music is firm and thick. The entire sound is full yet rageful. The complementary releases of the harder album “Do You,” and the more introspective “Loss, Love, and The New Normal” featuring Kaaren Styles, taken together present a complete range of talent that showcases the true depth of Web Three.

Nouvelle Vague – Miami Beach – 3/29/17

Heroes Live Entertainment presents Nouvelle Vague with special guest Liset Alea @ North Beach Bandshell in Miami Beach.

Tickets: http://ticketfly.com/event/1405731

Bossa Nova = Nouvelle Vague = New Wave.

This transliteration was the starting point for Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux’s unique project, which, by appropriating the punk and post-punk cannon and running it through the Bossa Nova filter, reinvented the cover band genre, revealing new and brilliant talents along the way: Camille, Phoebe Killdeer (whose Fade Out Lines was remixed by The Avener,) Élodie Frégé, Mélanie Pain, and, soon, Liset Alea.

The gambit paid off, with sales of over one million records over four albums released between 2004 and 2010, and world tours that included stops at venues such as London’s Royal Albert Hall, L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl and Paris’ Olympia.

Since 2011, Nouvelle Vague had stopped recording, focusing on an innovative live show created in collaboration with the mythical Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (Ceremony and Dawn Of Innocence,) and branching out into different projects: Olivier’s Uncovered Queen of the Stone Age, and Marc’s Bristol, along with his Kwaidan label.

The time seems right to write a new chapter in the Nouvelle Vague saga: with a new album “I Could Be Happy” and live show, the band and its coterie of female vocalists continue their time travels with a renewed alegria.

Liset Alea has lived a thousand lives. Born in Havana to an impulsive country man who was working in Fidel Castro’s kitchen and from whom he often stole the occasional piece of meat for the family and a literature major mother who had published some of her erotic poetry. At an early age, she already mastered the art of escape, the immigrant’s task of learning how to leave behind one’s home, family, friends, language, comforts and survive in an unfamiliar place.

At 15 she began to study the voice with America Crespo, a Cuban opera legend and Musical Theater at Miami’s New World School of the Arts. At 19 she moves to New York, a waitress by night, she enters the New School Jazz Conservatory for Vocal Jazz and buys her first guitar. She becomes the front woman of the electronic band Etro Anime, co-writes their 1st album which is released through V2. After witnessing the fall of the World Trade Center, she leaves the United States to Amsterdam with the band. They embark upon a tour supporting Kosheen and later Llorca where she meets Alexkid with whom she writes and records ‘Come with Me’ on his “Mint” album. “Come with Me” becomes an instant electro club and radio hit and she joins Alexkid’s band for a 46 dates European tour.
Seduced by the European way of life, she settles in London for a while, travels to Milan, Athens, Madrid, Berlin for songwriting sessions, many of these collaborations entered the charts in their respective country.

While not on the road she starts working on what will become “Heart- Headed”, her new album co-produced alongside by Marc Collin. Months in the making, “Heart-Headed” displays a balance of craft and emotion and exhibits the refined craftsmanship of her writing.

Her voice, reminiscent at times of Jennifer Charles (Elysian Fields), Marianne Faithful or even a Cuban Lana del Rey, is set against string and flute arrangements, vintage synthesizers and urgent guitars.

The first single “Hunter & Tiger”, heralds “Heart-Headed” as an album that comes straight from the heart but remains grounded in the early rock’n’roll era echoing Wanda Jackson’s Hard Headed woman.
‘Alea Jacta Est’, The die is cast; the future is hers on “Heart-Headed”.
